Glencoe Welcomed to Dementia Friendly America

In July, the Village became the sixth Illinois community to be recognized as a "Dementia Friendly Community." As part of the Village and Family Service of Glencoe's newly-launched Dementia Friendly Glencoe Initiative, both organizations will soon be providing community-wide education, awareness and mindfulness around dementia. This initiative will also span across the entire community, thanks to the support of District 35, Glencoe Park District and Glencoe Public Library.
New IDOT Lane Configuration on Dundee Road Bridge
Beginning next Tuesday, August 6, the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) will modify the lane configuration for its work on the Dundee Road Bridge over the Edens Expressway. Traffic will be reconfigured to use the outer lanes (one lane in each direction) while work begins on the inner two lanes. Please use caution when traveling in the work zone and on Dundee Road, especially when entering/exiting Interstate 94.

A Homeowner's Guide to Reuse and Recycling
Summer is a popular time of year for home renovation. As you plan your next home project, the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County (SWANCC) encourages you to think about the following reuse and recycling opportunities:
  • Direct your designer, architect and contractor to identify reuse opportunities in your project.
  • Donate your reusable building materials to a local reuse center, such as the Evanston Rebuilding Warehouse. The ERW accepts most doors, vintage lighting, newer kitchen cabinet sets, appliances and dimensional lumber.
  • Incorporate reclaimed building materials into your project and give them a second life.
