MEDJUGORJE YOUTH FEST

5 REASONS WE'RE SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS YEAR'S YOUTH FEST...

Mladifest, also known as the Youth Fest, is a "youth prayer gathering" that takes place every year in Medjugorje from July 31 to August 6.

On average, more than 50,000 youths and 400 priests from around the world come to Medjugorje during the Youth Fest for prayer, music, testimonies, Adoration, Mass, processions, and more.

This year, the 30th annual Youth Fest is shaping up to be one of the largest in history, and our team is already here. These are a few of the exciting ways we're taking part:

1. The parish is showing a 20-minute sneak peak of CARRY THE WEIGHT, our new film about Mary's Meals starring Gerard Butler, and we'll present it during the Youth Fest alongside Magnus Macfarlane-Barrow, the founder of the charity.

2. We're leading a pilgrimage during the Youth Fest (see Stella Mar Pilgrimages). Our group will be hosted by the visionary Mirjana and her family. We can't wait for our pilgrims to arrive and we'll post updates about their experience!

3. Meghan Schexnayder Greco's family, her parish priest, and her friends and family are coming on our pilgrimage for the Youth Fest, in her honor. You may remember that Meghan was the young pilgrim with cancer who we featured in these posts and videos:

4. We'll be filming and documenting the Youth Fest for our upcoming film Cross Mountain, and part of that film involves the Vatican's increasing support for Medjugorje. In fact, Archbishop Hoser and Medjugorje’s parish priest Fr Marinko Šakota recently announced some big news:

Two Cardinals are among several prelates who will attend the 30th Medjugorje Youth Festival which starts on August 1st.

Cardinal Angelo De Donatis, Vicar General of Rome, will  celebrate the opening Mass, while the closing ceremony of the six-day Mladifest will be chaired by Archbishop Rino Fisichelli, President of the Pontifical Council of New Evangelisation.

Other prelates in attendance are named as bishop Jose Rodriguez Carballo, Minister General of the Franciscan Order and now Secretary of the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Society of Apostolic Life;  Archbishop Luigi Pezzuto, apostolic nuncio for Bosnia & Hercegovina;  Msgr Dominic Rey, bishop of Fréjus-Toulon, France; Msgr Giampaolo  Crepaldi, Archbishop of Trieste; Msgr Vlado Košić, bishop of the  Croatian diocese of Sisak; Cardinal Vinko Puljić, Archbishop of Vrhbosna; and Msgr Henryk Hoser, the Apostolic Visitor to the Medjugorje  parish.

We've continued filming segments of Cross Mountain and following stories of the characters. You'll be happy to know that one of the youths we brought on pilgrimage in the film several years ago (Robert from Uganda) was recently ordained a priest!  His ordination will be one of the segments featured in the film (see below).

For Nothing is Impossible to God

Deacon Robert Ssekate was ordained on July 20th. It's been amazing to follow our dear brother Robert's journey. We met Robert in July 2015 when we invited him to Medjugorje to be part of a new documentary called Cross Mountain. It was beautiful to have Robert with us during the Youth Festival in Medjugorje. His gentle and caring personality helped the group bond and quickly feel like family. 

At the time, Robert was a seminarian studying in Rome, Italy. Our pilgrimage to Medjugorje that summer was unforgettable.

Then two years later, we were able to be present and film his Diaconate Ordination in St. Peter's Basilica! This scene and footage of his ordination in Uganda will be in our upcoming film Cross Mountain. We've been editing the big project and hope to share news about the release later this year.

Headquarters in Medjugorje

We're excited to announce that we will be filming the upcoming Youth Fest and Mirjana's August 2, 2019 apparition in Medjugorje, but the video we release about it could be our last one for some time, unless we can increase our monthly donations to reach our "Medjugorje headquarters" goal.

Thanks to the generous support of the Apostles of Love community, we're getting close to our goal. And, as you've seen, we've been able to film and release free "mini documentaries" from all of the recent second of the month apparitions in Medjugorje, along with other videos, news, and reports.

We'd love to reach the next milestone soon. We ask for you to join us in prayer for this intention, and, if you're able to, please consider helping us reach it.

Reaching our next milestone

As you probably know, a big milestone in our mission is to establish a small production studio in the center of Medjugorje and have it staffed full-time by one or more of our team members, who will live there and serve as a filmmaker and reporter, providing frequent updates, news, videos, and more. 

We will also invite interns to be part of our team in Medjugorje during certain times of the year, which will be an exciting opportunity for people interested in our work.

Having a headquarters in Medjugorje will give us the ability to do same-day edits of anything we film, and then upload and stream our videos and reports around the world instantly. We've been reporting these through StellaMarFilms.com and MedjugorjeLive.org. 

A permanent headquarters will also allow us to continue our popular iMedjugorje.com reports, and increase the frequency of our reports.

Our friends at Mary TV already stream the full homilies and other events from Medjugorje so that is not our plan. Instead, our goal is to document the stories of Medjugorje, and there are so many!  Everyone who comes here and lives here has a story, often a miraculous one, and we aim to bring you those.

Thanks to some local friends in Medjugorje, we've been able to use a small studio directly across the street from St. James Church, and if we can reach our goal, then we can secure and staff the studio as our year-round headquarters!

Year-round headquarters in Medjugorje would also allow us to film all of Mirjana's 2nd of the month apparitions, as well as other apparitions and events, and post the videos and reports free online within hours!
