~ Summer Newsletter ~

Greetings dear family, friends, and art enthusiasts,

I hope this finds you well and loving these long summer days.

I've been working hard in the studio for my upcoming gallery show, but still managing to enjoy my summer by painting en plein air.

The wildflowers were particularly beautiful in the mountains this year. I discovered this alpine meadow while camping in the Wallowa-Whitmen National Forest. No people for miles, only birdsong and gurgling rivers and views that make you breathe deep in gratitude.

I also spent time on the Oregon coast recently, painting en plein air with an artist friend who knew all the best vantage points.

For three days we painted our hearts out.  I came away with five little 5x7" paintings that I'm quite excited to share with you.

The above painting captures the iconic rock formation called the Three Graces and the one below is a vista view of  Short Beach.

I love the atmosphere on the Oregon coast. The moisture in the air refracts light into beautiful colors and creates nice depth in a scene.

Dealing with the changing light and dissipating fog is one of the most challenging things about painting en plein air on the Oregon coast.

I started the Garibaldi Harbor painting on an overcast, misty morning. I had a feeling the fog would burn off soon, so I painted the background first, while the marine layer existed. An hour later, when blue skies appeared, the tone had been set and I could use the new light to create a little sparkle in the boat's details.

The plan worked perfectly, if I don't say so myself ;)

Garibaldi Harbor and Short Beach Vista have already been spoken for.

All others are now available to purchase from my website.

Shop New Paintings

I'll be delivering several paintings to my Portland gallery tomorrow. This means many of my new paintings will no longer be available from my website shop, so you have til Wednesday, July 31st to purchase paintings from me directly and get all the TLC that comes with it :)

 SOLD!

~ Thank You ~

Several of my Oregon landscape paintings found new homes this summer. Thank you to both new collectors and old! I am so grateful for the opportunity to connect with people over art and bring a little more beauty into your lives. What a joy life is, surrounded by original art :)

My exhibit From the Mountains to the Sea closed this week and two of my favorites are still available. Several people have expressed interest, but neither painting has found the right home, yet. Interested?

Ok, enough landscapes already! I never expected  this subject would play such a significant role in my painting career.

Painting people has always been my greatest passion.

Which is why I'm thrilled to unveil a new body of figurative soon! Here's a sneak peek for you...

This new collection of female figurative nudes includes oil sketches and larger polished paintings. Most are inspired by working with live models and many include jewelry created by Kathleen Mistry.

Flesh and Stone represents both our work in a featured show at Sidestreet Arts, a women-run gallery in SE Portland.
