Latest News

Pain Concern at the House of Lords

Heather Wallace, Pain Concern's General Manager, and Pain Concern Trustee Robin Aitchison were at the House of Lords on 25th June 2019 to hear a policy debate on improving and supporting people living with chronic pain.

The event was opened by campaigner The Rt Hon Lord Luce, and hosted by the Chronic Pain Policy Coalition (CPPC), the British Pain Society and the Faculty of Pain Medicine.

There was a patient and clinical survey presentation from Sue Brown, CEO for Arthritis and Musculoskeletal Alliance (ARMA) and our General Manager and Trustee met the Chair and Secretary of Complex Regional Pain Society UK, a newly formed charity.

Dr Paul Cameron, National Chronic Pain Co-ordinator, discussed how pain services were organised in the UK and the need to develop community and primary care services. He also wanted senior government departments to recognise pain services and drive them forward.

The event closed with concluding remarks from Lord Luce and Martin Johnson and Neil Betteridge from CPPC.
