Update! Mission to Rescue Canaan Mixes
CARL was their pit stop on their long journey to a better life!
On Monday, July 22nd, our request for volunteers were answered. There were CARL Volunteers, Volunteers from public and from a local Temple.
We had 6 Canaan dogs that came from Israel for a stopover at CARL on their way to Washington State. The dogs landed at around 5:45 a.m., so we were expecting them around 10:00 a.m. After problems in customs they finally arrived around 1:30 p.m. A few got baths and they all enjoyed chicken and rice cooked up by our chef's Terry & Mary.
After baths, walking around and eating they were off to Camarillo airport for the finally leg of their journey. Another team of volunteers was there to help. They are all very sweet dogs with great temperaments. John D even had treats with the Star of David made up for them. A heartfelt thank you to each and everyone of you that helped make this possible. We couldn't have done it without you. A special thank you to the men and women from the Temple that came to help and brought commands in Hebrew. To have volunteers that spoke in the language they know had to be a great relief for these dogs! Of course there was all kinds of love and attention given to them by all volunteers. That transcends all languages!

Ventura County Probation Agency
The Ventura County Probation Agency celebrated Probation Services week starting 7/22/19. To express their appreciation for everything C.A.R.L. does, they are having a donation drive for us. Much thanks to VCPA for thinking of the CARL dogs!
C.A.R.L. is honored to be one of the chosen rescue groups for their Pawsitive Steps Program!
“The Pawsitive Steps program offers last-chance Ventura County shelter dogs and at-risk youth an opportunity to work together toward mutual rehabilitation. The program is designed to save shelter dogs and change the lives of at-risk youth,” said Deputy Probation Officer Debbie Navarro. “The Pawsitive Steps program will help Juvenile Facilities youth develop personal and vocational skills through the career pathway component of the program. Youth selected for the program will learn patience, compassion, empathy, restorative justice principles, and responsibility by caring for, training, and ultimately helping find forever-homes for dogs.”
