August Newsletter

If there's one thing that unites all Melburnians, it's the peculiar delight we take in complaining about our infamous winter weather. However, I would contend that the dreary skies and cold mornings offer the perfect backdrop for practice! I find it much easier to stay present and focused in practice when it's miserable outside. Of course, one could also while away a few bleak winter hours browsing the latest and greatest gear in our fabulous new climate-controlled showroom - just don't forget your mouthpiece!

Workshop Update
Throughout the recent "big move", our technicians have been as busy as ever getting brass and woodwind instruments of all shapes and sizes in tip-top condition. Workshop manager Aaron Ebert had this to say about our fantastic new facility:

"Our new state-of-the-art workshop in Moorabbin has been busy from the get-go and we have been pleased to see many new and returning customers for repairs and servicing. The core of Ozwinds has always been our technical department and I guess it’s easy to forget that the business once started as a one-man repair workshop and not a retail store. It was high quality repair work and the addition of secondhand instrument sales that the company naturally branched out to include the sales of new instruments, accessories and so much more.

Now in our new space we welcome our customers to view “behind the scenes” as the workshop is visible from the showroom. From a glimpse you will be able to see that the new facility is open and organised as far as workshops go. We have designed the space for efficiency and we are lucky to have lots of natural light. Our workshop offers tenon replacements, manufacture of replica parts, plating services, pad manufacture, comprehensive dent work and the service/repair of more unusual instruments.
Our Moorabbin complex regularly receives instruments from top orchestral players both via courier and in person. Contrabassoons, basset horns, french horns and many other specialised orchestral instruments from all around Australia are repaired and serviced at our premises. While we love to do these more uncommon repairs we are just as passionate and experienced with general services and playing condition repairs on your more standard brass and woodwind instruments. No job too big or too small as the proverb goes.

We welcome you to come visit and have a chat with our technicians next time you’re in the store. You will find that we all have the one goal - to keep your prized musical instrument working at its best. So please don’t be shy. We would be happy to show you around, or talk about instrument care and maintenance, or answer any questions you may have. Our unrivalled craftsmanship and extensive workshop capabilities will keep your musical instrument performing at its best for many years to come."
