To Those in Our Church Family on Vacation... We Miss You!!! Carry On!
A Word from the Pastors

Last weekend, while visiting my parents, I got the chance to watch the documentary Won’t You Be My Neighbor. The documentary is about Fred Rogers, the famed host of Mr. Rogers Neighborhood on PBS. I highly recommend it if you’re looking for something to watch on a lazy summer afternoon – although be sure to grab a box of tissues!

Something that I didn’t know about Mr. Rogers is that he was a Presbyterian minister. He recognized the power of television and media, especially for young minds, and was determined to use it to teach about love, kindness, and acceptance. Mr. Rogers Neighborhood became his ministry; it was a form of preaching.

There are many ways to share the Good News of God in this world. Some of us are called to preach in a pulpit, but that is certainly not the only way to show God’s love to the world around us. God has given each of us unique talents and interests, all of which can be used to glorify God and uplift others.

So, wherever you find yourself this week, what is one thing you can do to be a good neighbor and to share the Good News? Perhaps it’s by listening attentively to a coworker. Perhaps it’s by committing to a new volunteer project. Perhaps it’s by speaking out when you see someone being bullied or treated unfairly. Perhaps it’s by inviting someone to join you for worship at HPUC. There are so many opportunities in our day to day lives to demonstrate God’s love. So be encouraged and be bold!

Grace and Peace,
Pastor Sarah
