Good afternoon,

We're so happy that you participated in our 2017 In-Service and hope you found the information useful in your work. We do understand, however, that it was a long day with a lot of information so we want to offer you the opportunity to get a refresher through our 2019 Educational Series for Healthcare Professionals. The series mirrors the agenda of the in-service, with updated information. The first session will kick off October 10th, with all sessions taking place throughout October. Check out the topics below and feel free to sign up for one, or all four!

    • Deciding whether to work or take time off
    • Assessing rights and responsibilities under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
    • Online brand management, including thinking through disclosure on social media
    • Managing privacy at work and in an online setting
  • Session 2: Working Through Treatment - Thursday, October 17th
    • What and who to tell when disclosing a cancer diagnosis in the workplace 
    • How to arrange for reasonable accommodations at work under the ADA
    • Practical strategies to manage treatment side effects and modify work schedules
  • Session 3: Taking Time Off Thursday, October 24th
    • How to assess workload and create a plan for managing time away from the workplace
    • Understanding the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and how to use it
    • Navigating disability Insurance 
  • Session 4: Returning to Work - Thursday, October 31st 
    • Easing back into the work routine when returning to an existing place of employment
    • How patients can prevent themselves from being seen as “the cancer person” at work
    • Tips for job-searching during and/or after cancer treatments
    • Helping patients feel confident in addressing a gap in work history with potential employers

All sessions take place at 12:00 PM ET / 9:00 AM PT, run 60 min, and are free to attend.

*ACCREDITATION

CEW Foundation (aka Cancer and Careers) maintains responsibility for programs. Healthcare professionals of all disciplines should contact their regulatory board(s) to determine course approval for their specific license(s) and/or certification(s).
  • Cancer and Careers is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
  • Provider approved by the State of California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number CEP 16673, for 1 continuing education credit per session
  • The program content has been reviewed by the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC) and is acceptable for recertification points. Please see the accreditation page for a full breakdown.
  • Cosmetic Executive Women (CEW) Foundation (Cancer and Careers) SW CPE is recognized by the New York State Education Department's State Board for Social Work as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed social workers #0072. The Educational Series for Healthcare Professionals is accredited for 5 continuing education contact hours (1 per session)
  • An application to provide continuing education for Social Workers licensed in other states will be submitted in the weeks leading up to the sessions. 
  • Cancer and Careers is recognized by SHRM to offer Professional Development Credits (PDCs) for the SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP. This program is valid for 1 PDC per session for the SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP. For more information about certification or recertification, please visit www.shrmcertification.org.
