MT. CARMEL BOOK CLUB Sunday, August 11 at 6:00 pm
Karen Petersen’s home
The Book Club is reading The Invention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd. Set in early 19th century Charleston, this is a triumphant story about the quest for freedom and empowerment by two unforgettable women: Hetty “Handful” Grimke, an urban slave, and Sarah, the Grimkes’ idealistic daughter.
Copies are available in the church office.
Help Wanted
Calling all painters, carpenters, and wreckers! A new storage shed (which replaces the old metal shed next to Love to Learn Preschool) is now in place next to the dumpster pad. To finish the building, we need several volunteers to paint the exterior of the new building and to install shelves and tool racks. We also need several people to help demolish the old shed after we move the contents to the new building. Please contact Bob Grosse or John Cook if you are able to lend a hand.
