The Mission Council on July 16 voted unanimously to extend a Call to Ministry to Mary Alice Mulligan, the Interim Candidate identified and supported by the Pastoral Search Committee. (We received her executed Employment Contract yesterday and are so pleased to share the news!)
 
Mary Alice has a MA in Theological and Religious Studies from Drew University and a PhD in Preaching and Social Ethics from Vanderbilt. She was ordained in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in l988 and has enjoyed a career serving churches primarily throughout Indiana. In interviews, Mary Alice expressed experiencing a growing call to interim ministry. We are excited that discernment will bring her to Birmingham and FCC.
 
Mary Alice is a dynamic woman with many interests and great curiosity. She is very direct and clear in her mission to preach, teach, and reach people with the truth that God is real. She wants to equip people with scriptural truths for use in their daily lives. She describes her preaching as “impassioned” and is strong in the conviction that, “Faith matters! Jesus is alive!  That really, really matters today.”
 
Mary Alice will begin her ministry at First Christian on September 1, 2019.  Please join us in worship that Sunday as we welcome her to Birmingham and join our hands in  ministry.
