The Sweet Spot for the Flu Shot

Stop!  Wait!  Ignore the advertising all over the place!
Unless you plan on floating around in a boat among the international set or visiting south of the equator, WAIT!

Your flu vaccine works best in the 6 months after you have it.  Don't run out of flu shot before you run out of flu season.  Mid October to mid November is the "sweet spot" for your vaccine.  

Flu season begins in December or January and can tail off into April or even May if we're unlucky.  Flu vaccine antibodies need 2 weeks to build up in your body.  So a flu shot mid October gives you flu coverage by November and lasts through April.

Do NOT let advertising run your life!  Wait for that "sweet spot"!
