Life is full of miracles

Welcoming a baby and a book

Wow! Talk about having an exciting summer!
Nothing trumps becoming a grandmother for the first time, and on June 16th at 1 a.m., my son, Max, and his wife, Aleigha welcomed Wade Samuel into the world and our family. I'm overcome with joy, and have spent the past few weeks blubbering like a maniac, but life is surely grand. And in my mother's case, a great-grand mother.

Releasing my debut novel, The Midnight Call, during the same week was unbelievable. Many years of research, writing, editing and rewriting contributed to the novel which celebrates its debut this week, and I can't thank Immortal Works enough for believing in me and the manuscript, and helping me whip it into shape.
I had a terrific Book Launch at Oblong Books, Rhinebeck, NY on June 20th. It was so wonderful to have friends and family celebrating with me on my special day.
f you are in the area for any of these events, please stop and say "Hi!" I'd love to see you somewhere along my tour.

                           WHAT I'M READING THIS SUMMER

People are always asking me for reading suggestions, and I'd like to share some of the books on my list for summer poolside reading:
Lethal White by Robert Galbraith
Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens
Envy The Night by Michael Kortya
Lady in the Lake by Laura Lippman
A Better Man by Louise Penny
Furious Hours: Murder, Fraud and the Last Trial of Harper Lee by Casey Cep

During summertime, I also like to dig into a really, really long book, so Diana's Gabaldon's Written in my own Heart's Blood, the ninth book of the Outlander series, is at the top of my list. I'm an addict for all things Outlander, and this should tide me over during the Droughtlander until the Starz series resumes in the Fall or Winter.
WRITING THE LAW
COPYRIGHT 101: It’s unnecessary to register, or deposit, your work with the U.S. Copyright Office at the Library of Congress in order to benefit from the protection of the law, however, there are several advantages to doing so. First, the date of your creation will be proof positive that you are the first in time to write your particular story. Second, if someone else writes or copies the identical story, this filing will help with the statutory enforcement of your rights and remedies against the infringer. Third, it’s really cool to have that Copyright Certificate of Registration hanging on your wall. It’s worth the thirty-five dollars invested in the filing fee to stake your claim on your brilliant work of art, and it’s easy to do online at www.copyright.gov
