Making Music at the Summer NAMM Show in Nashville

The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) hosts two major shows each year. The Summer NAMM Show is held in Nashville, TN, while The NAMM Show is in Anaheim, CA. This year, ShopBot exhibited for the first time at the Summer NAMM show, which took place July 18-20.

Between the demos of our new ShopBot Desktop MAX ATC cutting out guitar bodies, and the musicians that stopped by to jam at our booth, there was plenty of activity throughout the show. Chris Burns, one of the people manning the booth, reports on the show in his latest blog post.

Steve Potter and His Handibot

The 8th Annual Dublin Maker event took place on July 20th, in Merrion Square, Dublin, Ireland. With over 60 booths and approximately 10,000 people attending, there was a lot of traffic for a one day event. And little did we know, Steve Potter was there demonstrating CNC carving with his Handibot® Smart Power Tool.

In preparation for the event, Steve created several samples in order to show the capabilities of CNC carving. This included making the name tags for the event organizers, utilizing the VCarve inlay technique on his Handibot. During the event, at his booth, he used his Handibot in two different ways to show some of what you can accomplish with portable CNC. He used the pen attachment with a Sharpie to draw with his tool, as well as carving name signs for kids to take with them. He helped the kids customize their signs, and then carved it for them. Apparently, this was a huge success, as they had some kids waiting over an hour to get their turn!
