The ADA Fundamentals is an overarching review of the transportation regulations relating to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The course is a full day, six-hour session that will cover the origin and history of the ADA as well as the applicability of regulations to transit systems and other businesses in the transportation field. The course will address accessible vehicle requirements, paratransit, paratransit eligibility, fixed route operations, training and maintenance requirements. Though the emphasis will be on bus and paratransit operations, the course will also skim over the requirements for transit facilities for both bus and rail. When students finish this course, they will leave with a solid, broad understanding of the ADA as well as reference materials to share with colleagues back at their home systems. This course requires no foreknowledge of ADA or accessibility and is intended as a basic course.
August 9, 2019, 9a.m. – 2 p.m. , Enhanced ADA Eligibility Best Practices; VENUE CHANGE Senior Insurance Services
1108 Springwater Ave, Wenatchee, WA 98801
The Enhanced ADA Eligibility Best Practices Course is a second tier course for students who already have a basic understanding of ADA paratransit eligibility requirements. This course will build on an assumed basic level of knowledge and will concentrate on trip by trip and conditional eligibility, eligibility determination models and ways to enhance existing eligibility processes. The course will use a combination of lecture and group exercises to work through this material. At the end of this 4-hour course, participants will be ready to conduct a review of their exiting eligibility processes and implement enhancements. This course is suggested for transit professionals already familiar with ADA paratransit eligibility and people who have just completed the ADA Fundamentals course.
