Weekend Program: Introduction to the Samantabhadra Wishing Prayer
Acharya Tenzing Wangpo will give an introduction to the well known Sangchö Mönlam, the Noble King of Prayers of Excellent Conduct, also known as the Samantabhadra Wishing Prayer. This prayer is a topic of study for Bodhi Path Centers and is included in the book called The King of Prayers: A Commentary on The Noble King of Prayers of Excellent Conduct. The book includes the prayer in its entirety and is based on a teaching given by Shamar Rinpoche in December 2009, on the occasion of the Kagyu Mönlam Chenmo in Bodhgaya, India.

Buddha Śākyamuni gave the teaching of the Samantabhadra Wishing Prayer to urge practitioners to treat the great Bodhisattva Samantabhadra as a role model to emulate in order that all their wishes be accomplished. By practicing the Noble King of Prayers of Excellent Conduct we can tap into the power of the wish-fulfilling accomplishments of great bodhisattvas, such as Samantabhadra, who already have mastered the pāramitās and who are therefore able to bestow the blessings of their accomplishments.
