In beer news...we recently received news that Russian River Brewing Company has expanded their distribution to the foothills. Sutter Creek Provisions has been chosen to be the exclusive location in Amador County to offer beers from Russian River Brewing!
If everything proceeds as planned, we will have bottles of Pliny the Elder, Blind Pig, and STS Pils for sale
(all bottles are to-go only) by Friday the 9th.
We will also have Pliny the Elder and Blind Pig on draught.
In addition to the excellent news of acquiring these highly sought-after beers, Darin continues to discover and procure some of the most unique & delicious beers. Our bottleshop inventory is continually evolving and changing with beers from all styles...sours, IPAs, Bourbon Barrel-Aged, Wild Ales...it's all here at Provisions.

The outdoor cooking center is nearing completion. Soon there will be fire. Food will be cooked with fire...all kinds of food. It will not be what most folks expect. The wood-fired oven is not for pizza. The grill is not for burgers. The smoker will for sure have meat, but will also have fish, cheese, vegetables, and maybe even fruit in it at some point. Tim is constantly reading, cooking, tasting, and creating. His vision is to cook virtually all the Provisions Pantry food using fire. You'll still see him in the "indoor" kitchen when it's time to start serving the delicious food to our customers, but most things will have been roasted, baked, grilled, smoked, or otherwise in the beautifully rustic kitchen he and our good friend Kevin Deamer have been creating out back.
Stay tuned.

COMING TO THE PROVISIONS STAGE IN AUGUST
Friday, August 9th
Alice Wallace & Xander Hitzig
5:30pm Door
$10.00 Cash Only

With her new album Into the Blue, California-country singer-songwriter Alice Wallace conjures the atmospheric sound of the Golden State’s canyons and deserts, mountains and crashing waves, its crowning beauty and its tragic losses. At the same time, the supple-voiced Wallace tells her own and others’ stories, weaving tales that resonate as we grapple with so many disturbing national issues.
It was lauded as one of the Most Anticipated Country Albums of 2019 by Saving Country Music before it's release, and since it's debut in January, it has been praised by publications ranging from Paste Magazine to No Depression. Rolling Stone Country named the title track, "The Blue," one of the "10 Best Country/Americana Songs to Hear Right Now" in April. Alice's tours have already taken her across the country this year in support of the new release, and in October, she'll head overseas for a month-long European tour.
Alice will be joined on this tour by fiddle player extraordinaire Xander Hitzig. Hailing from the mountains of West Virginia but now residing in Los Angeles, Xander is almost solely self taught, but you’d never know it to hear his incredible proficiency on fiddle, guitar, and tenor banjo. Using the music of his inspirations as his guide, Xander has been recording and touring back and forth across the U.S. for more than a decade with multiple bands and as a solo artist.

Tipping the Stetson hat that covers his scruffy hair, Lasers Lasers Birmingham carries on the legacy of hard living, left of center country music from the city of angles.

Warning, the first full-length album from Los Angeles based Lasers Lasers Birmingham, finds Alex Owen, the man behind the moniker, walking a tight rope between honky tonk persona, real life and near death. With an album title that is as much artistic statement as cautionary tale, Warning feels like a natural progression from the critically acclaimed 2016 EP, Royal Blue. Owen’s brand of “weird country music” draws inspiration from both right and left field, citing George Jones and Pink Floyd as influences.

Owen says he is inspired by classic country but with themes that are very “un-country”. Explaining further he said, “I believe the job of the artist is to report on their time, place and experience. So, it would be inauthentic of me to attempt to sound exactly like my country music heroes.” With a knack for lyrics, phrasing and songwriting, Owen accomplishes what he sets out to do and The Daily Country has described his music as, “…awash in modern day storytelling that retains true, traditional country sensibilities.”

You can tell it will be an atypical night just by scanning the crowd at a Lasers Lasers Birmingham show. Mohawked fans mingled with unironic cowboy hats, and some country-loving fans bring their kids along. Every show has a few guarantees: Self-aware cowboy songs ranging from sarcastic to tender, an engaging performance where the audience is encouraged to shout out or sing along, and at some point, you will witness something simultaneously familiar and absolutely brand new.

Northern California native Ben Morrison has been compared to a young Kris Kristofferson, a male counterpoint to Amy Winehouse, and Chunky Spicy Peanut Butter. He has spent the last ten years touring the world with The Brothers Comatose, San Francisco’s beloved folk/bluegrass band formed by Ben and his brother Alex Morrison.

His band The Brothers Comatose have performed at such venerated festivals as High Sierra, Merlefest, Mountain Stage, Winnipeg Folk Fest (Canada), Port Fairy Folk Fest (Australia), Outside Lands & Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, and has traveled through China with the State Department’s American Music Abroad program.

Currently, Morrison is touring as a solo artist while working on his debut LP. He is employing musical friends of all sorts to create a full band representation of his songs. Morrison will continue to work with his bandmates in The Brothers Comatose as he simultaneously carves a path all his own.
