What has Kay been up to?
First off, a big congratulations to our partner, DreamHouse ‘Ewa Beach, who opened their school doors last week for the first time to launch their week of Bootcamp with new DreamHouse students! Those students will be back next Monday to start off the very first year at this brand new school. I’ve had the privilege of supporting their work this past year, and can I say WOW! I can’t wait to see what year 1 brings for them. Learn more about their amazing team and work here.
Second, I’ve spent a lot of time this month with Career and Technical Education (CTE) teachers, both here in Alaska, teaming up with the CTE program to build a professional learning plan through the lens of literacy, and all the way out in Detroit, Michigan, running a workshop with PBLWorks. CTE teachers work hard to give their students opportunities to have real-world, situational experiences, to be prepared for industry standards, and to align to what the rest of the school or district is doing. Don’t know if your community has one? Check with your local high school and find out what options students have!
