We have a lot of new & exciting volunteer opportunities at the Hub and as always we are looking for new volunteers!
Volunteering with us is a great opportunity to expand your bicycle mechanics, bike building, and your teaching skills.
TWO NEW PROGRAMS...
I. Access Hours*
Beginning Monday August 12, 2019, the Gateway Bicycle Hub will provide dedicated Do-It-Yourself (DIY) hours and workshop space for people who identify as girls, women, trans, and gender non-binary (WTGNB)!
Access Hours will run every Monday from 4pm to 7pm.
We are looking for volunteers (and participants) who identify as girls, women, trans, or gender non-binary to join or help out with running this program.
Please contact Abrah McKeen, community connector for the Gateway Bicycle Hub, at amckeen@tno-toronto.org or 416-570-3883 to sign up to volunteer, or for more information!
*Access Hours is one initiative we are taking to address gender-based discrimination and the underrepresentation of women, trans, and gender non-binary participants in cycling and bicycle repair communities.
II. Social Enterprise Bicycle Upcycling (SEBU)
Beginning Wednesday August 7, 2019, we will be running dedicated hours for volunteers to refurbish bicycles for sale! The proceeds of these sales will go back into the Hub programs, allowing for the purchase of consumables and small parts.
This program will allow you to enhance your bicycle mechanics skills, while teaching you more about bicycle design and assembly.
We are looking for volunteers who have graduated from our Earn-a-Bike program or volunteers who gave already logged 20 hours.
SEBU will run every second Wednesday from 4pm to 7pm.
We are always looking for new volunteers. Sign up for a shift and then come on by to teach members of the community how to fix their bikes!
After your shift, don't forget to log your hours using our volunteer time log.
II. Community Repair Workshops
We are always looking for volunteers to teach community members to fix and maintain their own bikes at our Thorncliffe and Flemingdon community workshops!
