Reminder! This Sunday, July 28: Please join us for our biggest fundraiser of the year – our locally-sourced, home-cooked Farm Breakfast before the Springvale Farm Walk on Open Farm Day. Breakfast in the barn at McDougal Orchards (201 Hanson Ridge Road, Springvale) begins at 8 AM and ends at 9:30 AM and is $8 per person to benefit the land trust. Children under 5 eat for free!
We will be serving ham or vegetarian stratas (delicious, savory, eggy bread puddings) with green salad, or baked French toast with blueberry maple syrup and Harris Farm whipped cream, gluten-free frittata with Mousam Valley Mushrooms, and for our vegan friends an amazing succotash full of corn, dill, beans, and other tasty morsels. We strive to use as many Maine-grown-and-produced products as possible, especially produce and eggs from the farms right here in our communities.
Join Us for a Paddle at Hansen Pond in Acton
Would you like to join Three Rivers and Laurie Callahan from the York County Invasive Aquatic Species Project for a special visit to pristine and undeveloped Hansen Pond in Acton? Hansen Pond is not accessible to paddlers, but we're making special arrangements to take a small group out on the water on Sunday, August 4th at 1 PM. We'll be meeting folks and their kayaks or canoes and driving in - please let us know if you would like to go! Please email us or give Ruth a call at (207) 370-4191. 270-acre Hansen Pond is the latest piece of the Goat Hill to Shapleigh Pond Conservation Project and trail development will begin in the fall. It has over 100 acres of wetlands, Little Ossipee River frontage, and is a beautiful spot for walking and paddling.
