Regional Forum public session

Facing our Future: Looking through a different lens

We welcome you to join Regional Forum members to hear from a panel of speakers sharing their thoughts and insights on ways Southlanders could manage their most precious resource – water – in the future.

We have three great speakers joining us to share their insights:

  • Nathan Surendran, Wise Response Society - Nathan will share his thoughts on the impact of demand for growth exceeding the earth’s physical limitations and the implications for water management in Southland.
  • Alan Watson, Water and Sanitation Rotary Action Group - Alan will speak about the importance of protecting freshwater resources for human health and Rotary’s initiatives to reduce pollution into waterways in Southland.
  • Alistair Adam, Great South - Alistair will talk about the importance of water to Southland’s economy and options for new industries based on alternative crops.

This public session forms part of the fourth workshop for the forum members. Each workshop to date has included a public session aiming to further the conversation and knowledge of the forum members, while providing members of the public with an opportunity to hear the same information and discuss issues with members in an informal setting. All workshops, including public sessions, are facilitated by Barbara Nicholas.

In addition, the chair and deputy chair of the Regional Forum will be announced.

Where: Kelvin Hotel, Invercargill

When: 5.30pm to 7.00pm, Thursday 25 July 2019

Check out the updates from each of the previous workshops as well as the papers and presentations online. Go to www.es.govt.nz/regional-forum.

Closing this Friday!
