Spotlight on the City of Maywood

The City of Maywood spans just 1.14 square miles but has demonstrated a big commitment to energy efficiency for their community by retrofitting streetlights city-wide. The City upgraded their 600 high-pressure sodium vapor lamps to LED fixtures with SoCalREN support on financial analysis and an incentive application to bring the project to fruition and capture rebates from Southern California Edison (SCE) before they expired.

Project benefits included:

  • $30,000+ in annual energy cost savings
  • $10,000 in utility incentives
  • 350,000+ kWh in annual on-bill energy savings
  • Over 90 metric tons of CO2 in GHG reduction, equivalent to taking 20 cars off the road for one year!

SoCalREN is thrilled to have partnered with the City of Maywood on this energy efficiency project and applauds them for taking action and leading their community towards a more sustainable energy future!
