We're thrilled to welcome Soledad and Gabriel, narrators from Solito, Solita, to our EDU advisory board!
Soledad and Gabriel played a crucial role in helping us create our curriculum for Solito, Solita, and we're so grateful for their enthusiasm and dedication to teaching the stories in the book. We know their experiences and perspectives will reverberate strongly with students, and look forward to having them more deeply involved in the development of our educational resources moving forward.
Bienvenidos y gracias Soledad y Gabriel!

“It’s our job, as artists, to be broken and to live in brokenness. To climb in beside those suffering and invite them to make a home inside us.” - Eve Ensler

On July 5th, we joined playwright Eve Ensler, One Billion Rising, La Mujer Obrera, and more than 30 other artists and activists at the El Paso border for an ARTISTIC UPRISING against the inhumane conditions immigrants and refugees are currently facing in detention centers.
Solito, Solita narrator Gabriel Mendez addressed the crowd about his experience coming to the US from Honduras, and our Community Partnership Coordinator Ela Banerjee read an excerpt from Noemi's story in the book.
On our blog, Ela shares details about the weekend and photos and videos from the protest. She also reflects on the significance of rising in solidarity with immigrants and refugees on the day after Independence Day.
