Premier XV

Playing Port at home, AURugby came out strong, dominating the play for the majority of the game. However, a string of infractions resulted in a several yellow cards that had us down to 13 v 15 at one stage. Despite this, AURugby held on well with the score being 18 - 19 Ports way with a few mins left, however AURugby just couldn't quite get in front before the final whistle. This game demonstrated that their is nothing stopping us taking out the ladder leaders.

Jordan “Baby Jackal” is most well known for serving the public in a different light by driving busses, crab fishing, and not making any jackals. Aside from being adopted by his new mum, when he visits down from the high country he excels at drinking beers exceptionally slowly. Congratulations on getting your 50th cap for the mighty Blacks.

Celebrations of the boys' milestones were performed in fabulous fashion. With players hanging around the club to socialise and put on a bit of a performance, notable mentions go to Lex, Spooner, Jack, Jonesy, Baby Jackal and POTAURUFC.

"The way the boys reinvented themselves is truly remarkable" - Matt Mooney
Women XV

Saturday had the womens team tested in the first half, with Burnside looking dangerous across the pitch. With a forward pack just as dominant as our own and a backline which continually pressured the AURugby. Burnside took the lead early and held on for most of the first half, however a composure, fitness were AURUgby's friend in the second half with the Women's team capitalising on the mistakes and tired players of there opposition and were able to get the score line in their favour. A great game to watch!
Like all great flanks, Kate charges through the lineout to steal the ball out of Burnside's no. 9

Reserve XV

The Ressies for most of the first half were competitive with Port on the score board with Port running in a few tries and AURugby slotting 3 out 3 from the golden boot of Jimmy Jag. However, in the second half Port exploited our weaknesses and holes in the line which allowed them to run away with it. This game by no means was our best and we look forward to seeing them again in finals.

Physio Services At Waite

Welcome to Cindy Chang. Cindy was in the Roma’s squad in 2018, and travelled with the squad as the physio for the Japan tour in 2019, so she knows a thing or two about rugby, rugby players, and rugby injuries. She has also worked with SANFL teams, and with state and national teams for other sports.
Cindy will be at the club Thursdays and cost is just a swipe of your private health card (no gap), or $30 if you don’t have private cover.
You can also go to Adelaide Sports and Ortho Physio at their clinic at 2/57 Magill Rd, Stepney, and you can text Cindy on 0410 094 894. You get the AURUFC discounted rate at the clinic as well!
50 Games - Charlie Green

Tthe man who wears the most punishment of any winger, who despite having hollow bones and the ability to literally bounce whilst being crunched by someone 4x his size (impressive until you realise he’s 20kg soaking wet), and who forsook his Samson-like hair for a more debonair look this year... Well done Charles for earning his 50th cap.
100 Games - James Agness

James is most well known for keeping the same girl on the hook for 12+ years with no ring. This same composure allows him to slot game winners from the sideline, enjoy a publicly funded salary and wear England jerseys at will. James on the weekend earnt his 100th cap for the mighty Blacks.

Ronald Bok Kim Tan

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Ron Tan former club and team captain of the AURUFC 1959 &1960. On behalf of the AURUFC and its wider community we would like to give our condolences to Ron Tan's family.

Ronnie Tan was the Eddie Betts of the AURUFC for most of the fifties and captain of the Premiership side in 1960, which we won 5-3. A try was only awarded three points in them far off days. Ron converted my try to give us victory. He was mercurial around the loose rucks and rarely missed the short conversions. At least I am pretty sure he was captain in 1960 and if I recall correctly I was vice captain. Ron, a very popular player came to Uni. from Singapore and graduated in engineering. He had a cheerful disposition which embraced everyone. After some years he returned to Adelaide and played a very active role in multicultural activities for which he was awarded an OAM in the Order of Australia lists.
