Networks for Oral Health Integration within the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Safety Net
The Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MCHB), Health Resources and Services Administration, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, has announced awards for the Networks for Oral Health Integration (NOHI) within the MCH Safety Net program.
Projects have been awarded in three geographic categories across the country. Each network is composed of the recipient and MCH safety net sites located in four different states. Each network will develop, implement, and evaluate a model of care to promote the integration of optimal oral health services within a safety net setting (community health centers).
Category 1
Health Center Network of New York, Inc. partnering with Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC
Population: Infants and children up to age 2
Category 2
Michigan Primary Care Association partnering with Illinois, Iowa, and Ohio
Population: Children ages 6–11
Category 3
Denver Health and Hospital Authority partnering with Arizona, Montana, and Wyoming
Population: Infants and children up to age 2
Projects will start September 1, 2019, and continue for 5 years.
The Center for Oral Health Systems Integration and Improvement (COHSII), a consortium led by the National Maternal and Child Oral Health Resource Center in partnership with the Association of State and Territorial Dental Directors and the Dental Quality Alliance, which is also funded by MCHB, will provide technical assistance to support the NOHI projects.
