Newsletter July!

Dear <<First Name>>,

Last month, I sent out a very odd newsletter, with only a request to fill in an a form with feedback on The Blue Pangolin. I got as many as 21 responses, many thanks to all of you. The main takeaway was that you guys want to see whatever I make, and that's a big compliment right there. A newsletter is kinda a one way street, and only half of the subscribers opens it. Social media is getting harder for small pages like mine, and it seems like only a fraction actually sees what I make and of that an even smaller portion that likes it. Sooner or later, we all ask, are people actually waiting to see my stuff or should I scale back to just a hobby?

Again, thank you all for putting that straight for me. In this newsletter, you'll find two portraits, two new MTG alter and an upcoming exhibition!!

Alters! These are the latest borders (and a little more) that I painted onto Magic The Gathering cards. The right one I made 4 times, in the four seasons. You can find a small video here and all four pictures here!

What I'm working on..

Yes I know it's on it's side, call it artistic freedom!

I started a personal project this week, for the first time in months. I'm drawing my favorite comic characters on a big poster. Why? Well, I need cartoon figure skills soon, having my heroes around might help!

Once I finish it, and if I figure out how to put a pdf on my website, I'll make it downloadable!

New leftover portrait:

I have two portraits to show you this month, I think this is my best leftover work yet. The character I painted is a great actor, the person playing him is funny, strong and very caring. I love making more artistic interpretations and colors, but here actually the crazy colors turned out quite realistic.

Other cool projects..

This one is equally special to me, maybe a bit less colorful and that, but it's the first live drawing of a person that actually looks like said person.

I made it on holiday with my beloved boyfriend (pictured on your left) and he was so kind to pose for me while cutting up our veggies for the barbecue. What can I say, I have such a hard life..

I almost forgot! The BIG news of this newsletter!

I'm going to have a first ever exhibition this year! I've recently joined StEK, Stichting Ermelos Kunstcollectief, the local artist society. I had an interview and a portfolio and all that, and they approved! I felt like a real artist :)

They have their own gallery in Ermelo, where I'm planning to join the first new exhibition in september. Oh, and I have my own artist page on their website!

Check out all the information here, and make sure to come by and have a look at the current exhibition (and drink a cup of tea with me?)
That's all folks! I hope you enjoyed this newsletter. If you got it by some lovely friend of mine that forwarded it to you, feel free to subscribe. It's just one mail every month!

And remember, if you have a question/suggestion/commission, feel free to contact me
