Bike Walk Tompkins, after conversations with the Ozolins family, is accepting memorial contributions in tribute to Andrejs Ozolins, a longtime champion for cycling in Ithaca (see obituary here). Much of the work we do at Bike Walk Tompkins is in the spirit of and continues the vision that Andrejs Ozolins held as he passionately advocated for people biking and walking. He also directly helped build the regional cycling community here through his dedicated volunteer work with the Finger Lakes Cycling Club.
Contributions will, ideally, support some kind of amenity on the Black Diamond Trail to make it easier for anyone to find and travel easily, safely and enjoyably on the Black Diamond Trail, such as a Trailhead Information Kiosk in memory of Andrejs.
Beyond a trail amenity, these funds will support Bike Walk Tompkins in making Ithaca and Tompkins County a community where walking and biking are safe and convenient for people of all ages and abilities.
