Software Update

We continue to develop the Joulescope software, which will increase the value of your Joulescope over time.  We will be releasing the 0.5.0 software very soon.  The new software contains fixes and improvements based upon your feedback.  The primary changes are:

  • USB connectivity improvements: Some host computers, particularly for macOS, had trouble communicating with Joulescopes.  The 0.5.0 software includes new firmware and better error handling.
  • Improved current auto-ranging: This release ensures each Joulescope performs the same by using the calibration information for the auto-ranging function.  It also fixes the range selection oscillation that occurred with negative currents.
  • User interface: Various fixes and improvements.
This software update is the first with firmware updates which are automatically applied when you start the software.  No need to panic!   The update takes less than 30 seconds so you will be up and running with an improved Joulescope in no time.

We will continue to work on the software over the coming months. Although we were planning to implement the GPI/O host software feature this month, the issues addressed in this software release consumed our time.  With vacations in August, we are postponing the UI GPI/O feature until mid-September.  We apologize for the delay, and we hope that you appreciate our choice to prioritize quality over features.
