Minnesota Hunger Relief Organizations Respond to Proposed SNAP Cuts
The Trump administration wants to tighten the rules governing who qualifies for food assistance, which could end up stripping more than 3 million people, including countless Minnesotans, of much-needed food assistance benefits. Hunger-relief leaders in the community, including Channel One, Great Plains Food BankHunger Solutions, The Food Group and Second Harvest Heartland believe changes to SNAP disproportionately impact low-income working families, older Americans, people with disabilities and children, who could lose direct access to free school meals.  Learn More.
Feeding America has updated the annual Valuation Report, which is used to establish values for donated food. Many agencies use this for tax purposes or annual reports. The average valuation is between $1.60 - $1.65. If you would like to see the full, detailed report, which has breakdown of food categories please fill out this letter and send to dfuhrman@2harvest.org.
Check out the list of Agency Partners listed on Second Harvest's website. Please take some time to review your Agency's listing and website. If you don't have a website we can also insert your Facebook page. Send any questions or corrections to Jennifer Sheda at jsheda@2harvest.org.
