Key Information as You Prepare for PUC!

Dear PUC Pioneers,

In eight (8) weeks, you will be arriving on campus! We can’t wait!

As you continue to prepare for your trek to Angwin, we want to make sure you have the knowledge you need to make this transition as seamless as possible.

This newsletter will give you information on finalizing your financial plans, preparing for dorm life, the Academic Calendar, your ID card, staying connected to family and friends, and buying textbooks (hint: wait until closer to starting classes).

If you ever have any questions, you can always contact the Student Life office at
studentlife@puc.edu or (707) 965-7362. We will be able to answer your questions or point you in the right direction. We are so excited to help you begin your journey as a PUC student and to connect with you in September!

Important Financial Information

Finalize your Financial Aid

The deadline to finalize your financial arrangements is August 26, 2019. If you don’t meet this deadline, a hold will be placed on your account. Call (800) 862-7080, option 1, or email studentfinance@puc.edu to get connected with your counselor.

Submit the FAFSA

This isn’t required but is highly recommended, as FAFSA determines your student’s financial aid eligibility. Use PUC’s school code to have their information sent to us—it’s 001258.

Dorm Life

Roommate assignments will be released soon!

If you haven’t done so, complete your Housing Application Form (a receipt of your enrollment fee is required) at
puc.edu/housingform. The sooner you complete the Housing Application Form, the sooner you will be given a room assignment.

You will receive your housing assignment, roommate confirmation, and move-in instructions in early August (if you applied in June or early July; late applications will be processed in the order received).

If you have any questions, contact the women's residence hall at (707) 965-6310 or the men's residence hall at (707) 965-6491.

Move-In Day—September 18

New students living on campus are expected to move into the residence halls beginning 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 18. Please plan accordingly, as the Student & Family Blessing program starts at 3:30 p.m. More details in next week’s newsletter.

In the meantime, you can check out these great resources for preparing to move into your dorm room:

Academic Calendar

PUC’s Academic Calendar contains important dates like when classes begin, add/drop dates, student holidays, and more. This is a critical resource for planning trips home, vacations, etc. You can view the calendar for each quarter at here:

Academic Calendar

PUC Identification Cards

You will receive your ID Card during New Student Orientation. Come prepared to take your headshot!

Your ID card will be an essential tool: it can be used for Dining Commons purchases, clocking in and out of campus jobs, services in the college library, special functions on campus, identification of students for campus security purposes, and for receiving student discounts at local businesses or events.

Cellular Service on Campus

We know how important it is for you to stay connected to home and friends while at PUC!

Verizon Wireless is currently the only company providing cell service to Angwin (our local town). You can use your phone on PUC's WiFi. However, beyond campus, non-Verizon service is unreliable. Now is a great time to change your phone planes if necessary.

PUC Bookstore

The PUC Barnes & Noble bookstore offers any textbook required for a class at PUC. You can visit online: Bookstore

It’s no secret that college textbooks can be expensive, so the Bookstore allows students to buy or rent textbooks to help with the costs. We suggest using caution if buying books prior to the first day of class, as some books are required while others are only recommended. Buying ahead of time can sometimes mean getting an incorrect book or the wrong edition.
