Following the historical storm on Monday, July 8, the undercroft (basement) of the
church and a small section of the basement in the Parish House sustained substantial water damage. Since then, with the generous support of our parishioners and staff, great progress has been made including:
- Insurance claim filed with Church Insurance Agency Corporation. Claim adjuster came out to review damage. Waiting on final review from the company regarding coverage and possible payment.
- Undercroft, exterior and interior stairwells, boiler room, kitchen, and entire Parish House have been cleaned of items that were damaged and areas which contractors indicated needed to come out (carpets, cabinets, floor boards).
- Six feet of water was pumped out of the elevator pit, power turned back on, and is now operational.
- Weekly conference calls between the Wardens, Parish Administrator, and the Buildings and Grounds Team to keep repairs on track and to brainstorm.
- Three companies specializing in water infiltration are scheduled during July and August to provide proposals and bids for fixing water drainage issues.
- Two roofing companies have been scheduled to review gutters on church to see if changes need to be made. We are still looking for one or two more.
- Painter hired to fix drywall and paint the Parish House next week as this is our temporary coffee hour, Sunday School, Choir Room, and Nursery space.
The next steps in this process will be reviewing bids for water improvements and hiring
contractors, followed by acquiring bids for remodeling the undercroft area (flooring, painting, etc.) Please note that our columbarium project is still moving forward as
scheduled with Richard Williams Architects. We are also thankful for the many
parishioners who came out for the church wide clean-up. Thank you for your support!
