Fearrington Farmers' Market
Tuesdays, 4 - 6 pm
April through November

We love our customers!

Wow, what a market last week!  Thank you all so much for braving the rain to come out and spend time with your favorite local farmers.  It's so wonderful to see how many folks are committed to supporting the farmers' market, rain or shine.  We truly appreciate each and every one of you!

The weather this week looks like it will be a bit more cooperative -- sunny and warm! -- so if you weren't able to make it last time, we hope to see you this Tuesday!

Honey Bee Hills Farm

Watermelon season is in full swing! We’ll be bringing a variety of certified organic seeded and seedless watermelons to market this week. We’ll also have our organic heirloom tomatoes, sweet and hot peppers, eggplant, cucumbers, okra, potatoes, garlic, arugula, and malabar. We currently have 20 lb boxes of organic canning tomatoes available for $30, which must be ordered in advance. Email Liz at farmers@honeybeehillsfarm.com to claim yours! Unfortunately, we’re in a battle with the deer over our summer lettuce, but we hope to have our salad mixes back on the table very soon.

Perry-winkle Farm

Thank you, thank you to all of you that braved the rain and the mud last week.  You are definitely the reason that we never hesitate to load up our van no matter what the weather forecast is.  You are the best!

We will have lots of potatoes at our stand this week -- six different varieties!  The final beds were dug on Thursday; it feels good to know that they are all out of the ground.  We are already talking about what to grow next year, so please tell us which varieties you liked best.

We harvested the first round of butternut squash and it has been curing in the greenhouse.  We will bring a basket of them to see if folks are ready to think "winter squash." We will also have bags of basil, slicing tomatoes and our flavorful Sungold cherry tomatoes.

The flower department will have celosia bunches, gomphrena (aka. globe amaranth) bunches, a bucket of zinnias along with mixed bouquets for your table.

with gratitude,
Mike Perry and Cathy Jones

Red Roots Farm is on vacation this week, but we'll see you next time!

Sour Bakery is a wild yeast leavened breads and pastry bakery. We currently use a shared commercial kitchen in Durham, but we are hoping to open a brick and mortar in Alamance County (where we live). All of our breads and pastries use a 10 year old culture that we cultivated while living in Seattle, Washington. While wild yeast is more commonly associated with Sourdough, our breads range from sour to mild, depending on the type of loaf. You can find out a little more about Sour Bakery via Instagram and Facebook! Please do come by to try a sample of our offerings, and maybe take a loaf to break with friends!

Our Offerings this week: Classic Sour, Salted Rosemary, Cinnamon Raisin, Olive and Rosemary, Chipotle Cheddar, In A Pickle. We will also have pretzels, croissants, and a few new items!

Sweet Flowers and Fruits

Oh my goodness!  Last week was soggy, to say the least!  Hoping for better weather this week so you can come pick up lots of tomatoes.  We've got Heirlooms and slicers, we've got cherry tomatoes for your salad, and we've got some so tiny you can pop them in your mouth like candy!  I've also got a few great new recipes to share with you.  Along with the tomatoes, there will be the traditional and the smaller Fairy Tale eggplant, several varieties of peppers, red and white onions and regular and elephant garlic.  Pick up a mixed bouquet or some fragrant tuberoses or gladiolus while you're here.  See you Tuesday!

The following vendors also plan to be at market this week:

Chatham Hill Winery
East Branch Ginger
Eco Farm
Fire Clay Cellars
Four Oaks Farm
