Passed: Tougher farm trespassing penalties
We promised to protect farmers with new trespass laws which have now been unanimously passed through the Lower House of Parliament. Time for states to do their bit. For more, check out this link
Approved: Emu Swamp Dam 
The Federal Govt and growers have committed over $70M for Emu Swamp’s $84M price tag and now finally the Qld Gov't kicked the tin. 700 jobs, water security and a guaranteed future for the Granite Belt  - that's going to be the new reality. 
Prickly Acacia to be tackled solely by Fed Gov't
Stopping Prickly Acacia in the Central West is so important and that's why the Coalition Government will press ahead with our $5 million investment - despite the state government reneging on their $5m commitment. Click for more info.  
A reality: Future Drought Fund 
The $5 billion Future Drought Fund has passed through the Senate. It's set to kick into gear in the 20/21 Financial Year with $100m dividend paid every year and will support preparedness and resilience projects for our farming communities. 
$1.1 million supporting community child care in Maranoa 

Kingaroy, Millmerran, Quilpie, Charleville, St George and Longreach took a share of about $1.1 million in Community Child Care Funds to help providers address child care participation rates, ensure families have access and cover operational costs. 

ACCC inquiry into MDB & an inspector-general
Water is the lifeblood of communities in the Murray Darling Basin and it's important that the market operates in a transparent and effective manner - that's why I invite farmers to participate in this inquiry. An inspector-general will also clear up any muddy issues. 
Electorate tour: Winton to Chinchilla 
Travelled from Winton to Chinchilla last week. Great to be in Winton last Monday at the official opening of the Waltzing Matilda Walkway of Honour and silhouette sign.

Support for drought affected small businesses
All drought-impacted small businesses in Maranoa can now call Rural Solutions Queensland for free and confidential support. Call the Small Business Rural Financial Counselling Service on 1300 732 777 or 07 46 22 55 00. 
Drought Community Outreach events coming to Maranoa
Consultations with Federal and State agencies, and local service providers, will be available one-on-one for those who make a living from agricutlure.
