SRA Member Spotlight: Samuel Filipe Pereira Domingos, MSc, recipient of the 2018 SRA Europe Scholarship.

Samuel's research focuses on understanding public perceptions and associated beliefs of the demands (e.g., danger, effort, uncertainty) posed by heat waves, and the resources (e.g., knowledge, individual characteristics, support) available to cope with those extreme weather events. This allows for the identification of the perceptions and beliefs of demands and resources that people typically associate with heat waves, and what they still need to know to protect themselves accordingly. It also provides an overview of the preferred wording people use in this context to express themselves. Together, this information can be used for tailoring risk communications aimed at promoting methods of adaptation for heat waves.
