One Spot Left for August's Kids' Class

With summer winding down, we are preparing our Fall lineup of classes — and we still have 1 seat left for the “Kids in the Kitchen” cooking class on August 21st. This class will be held at KAM Appliances and led by Chef Linda Davey where the young chefs will learn to mix, measure and cook a meal (and then eat it!). Register now.

Grant Update

The 2nd part of the Urban Agenda Grant has been received and we will be conducting a Fall session of cooking classes for ‘Youth-At-Risk’ in Barnstable.  For this session we will be focusing on some high school age youth receiving a series of classes.  These will be helpful for both life skills in the kitchen and also provide some background should they be looking for restaurant jobs. More details will be posted next month.

Coming This Fall

Training for those who want to work in the food services industry. AND help for restaurants who want to hire. We have all heard about the labor shortages and are keenly aware of the problem in the food service industry — so we are going to do something about it. Funding has been approved.

Restaurant & food service operators, we need your input and will be reaching out to better understand what your needs are and what type of skills you want to hire.

Thanks, Rotary Club of Harwich & Dennis!

We were invited to tell our story at the weekly rotary club meeting recently – great to engage with this wonderful service organization and relate some stories of where we are connecting the culinary community.

Calling All Kitchens!

Got a commercial kitchen to rent? Every week we receive inquiries from Food Makers looking to rent kitchen space.  While we continue working & fund raising to establish our space, the demand continues — so, if you have space let us know.  Most recently we have connected with a bagel maker, an entrepreneur making beach plum products, a caterer, BBQ foods…and the list goes on.

Get in touch if you would like to help.

Thanksgiving plans are moving forward

We have identified 50 families that will be receiving a fully cooked Thanksgiving dinner with all the ‘fixins’. We have a place to cook the 50 turkeys and mashed potatoes. Help is needed to cook veggies for 50 and make gravy for 50 — know anyone/any place that can help?

Volunteers

Like all organizations, we run on volunteers. Right now, our biggest need is for instructors.  If you’ve taught courses in the food services or culinary arts industry — please contact us.

Thank you.

Board President
