Here’s what’s happening in New York City.

The slow burn of late summer is getting to me, and I am starting my (very long) countdown to fall. But while I’m personally already online shopping for my cold-weather workout gear, the city is still in full-on summer. Between a new Mexican vegan bar over in Clinton Hill and Juice Press’s refreshing non-alcoholic IPAs, there’s still quite a bit more of this season to taste in NYC. As always, here are your health and fitness happenings around town this week.

🌅 Sunset In A Cup

For vegan cocktails that resemble a summer sunset over the Hudson, Izzy Rose, Clinton Hill’s newest vegan bar, is calling your name. Not only are their cocktails an array of different shades of ombré, but the new vegan joint is also serving up plant-based Mexican dishes to supplement their Instagram-worthy sips. Swing by for a trip to Cancun without dropping a penny on the plane ticket.

💪 We Dare To Bare

For the chance to fully embrace your inner and outer beauty, and come together with a group of like-minded warriors, get in on the We Dare To Bare Festival taking place in Union Square Park on October 1. Women will be joining forces, shedding their shirts, and taking some of NYC’s favorite fitness classes (we’re talking Y7, Pure Barre, SoulCycle, and more) together as a way to celebrate the strength and the beauty of the female body. Hurry up, though — registration just opened, but this event sells out fast!

🍺 Just Beer, No Bloat

If you like all the flavors a refreshing IPA offers but hate the bloat and the hangover, Juice Press has you covered. They just introduced a non-alcoholic beer in conjunction with Athletic Brewing Co. that’s brewed with all sorts of calcium, potassium, magnesium, antioxidants, and anti-inflammatory goodness. Hit up any of their juiceries for this new addition to their already thriving menu of organic juices.

🚲 Lit Lunch Hour

No matter where you stand on SoulCycle's latest controversy, they have news if you're still willing to hop on the saddle. The new Hudson Yards SoulCycle is now offering 30-minute classes for all the workaholics out there who still want to squeeze in a lunchtime spin. With the perfect amount of time for a sweat and a quick rinse before heading back to the office, this class can fit into pretty much any schedule — cruise on by to test it out.

🥊 Getting Gritty

Whether you like boxing, running, weightlifting or just want to see a cute pup, Pitbull and Tony Robbins’ GRIT BXING, which opened last Friday, is sure to be your new favorite workout. Mixing bursts of boxing, treadmill work, and strength training, GRIT will leave your entire body craving more after their 50-minute sweat sesh. Plus, you can catch a glimpse of their mascot Gritty on your way out (more on him later). Check out our feature for all the deets!

🌿 Going Vegan

Cafe Petisco took four months off and just made a triumphant return as a fully vegan establishment. Renamed Petisco Vegano, the Lower East Side Mediterranean joint encourages their customers to always “dine with compassion.” And their menu overhaul makes that very easy now that dishes like lamb chops have been replaced by red lentil penne and dairy-free mac ’n’ cheese. Grab a taste of their new 100% vegan menu — it will be 100% worth it.

💦 Let's Get Sweaty

Punch Pedal House opened in DUMBO in the beginning of summer, but it's a workout everyone's still talking about. Home to two buzzy classes—a HIIT cycling class and circuit-style boxing bootcamp—husband-and-wife founders Joey and Nada Foley aren't mincing words when they say it's the "hardest" cycling class in the city and a killer full-body workout if you dare to try the 45- or 60-minute boxing sesh.

ShoutOuts

As mentioned earlier, @iamgritty_ is the star mascot over at GRIT BXING. You can catch him at the front desk before your workout for a little boost of energy or after as you’re cooling off from your 50-minute burn. Either way, he’s bringing New Yorkers all the cuddles and smiles, so come he see him for a sweaty puppy smooch.
Cheers to Brave Body Project co-founder and Barry’s Bootcamp trainer @lindseyclayton23, who’s waving the Fitt flag for us all over NYC! In the time she has between posting her consistent fitness inspo and dreamy summer activities on her Instagram, she’s joining forces with us to help teach you all a lot more about NYC’s fitness scene.
