Diary of a Team Manager - US Tour

Swimming Victoria’s Performance and Development Services Coordinator, Josh Busch recently accompanied a touring team to the USA as Team Manager. This is his recap of the tour.

After months of planning, the Victorian touring team finally touched down at San Francisco International Airport on Thursday 25 July. The team, to compete at the 2019 US Phillips 66 National Championships, consisted of 10 athletes, 3 coaches, 1 manager and a physiotherapist, including:
  • Wayne Lawes (Swimming Victoria) Mentor Coach
  • Jason Cooper (Firbank Aquastars) Coach
  • Ashley Delaney (Northcote Swimming & Lifesaving Club) Coach
  • Alicia Frey (PhysioHealth) Physiotherapist
  • Josh Busch (Swimming Victoria) Team Manager
Athletes were selected from performances at both the 2019 Australian Swimming Championships and 2019 Australian Swimming Trials.  The targeted age group was 17 years and over for females and 18 years and over for males with the intention to support athletes who are on the pathway to Senior Team Selection.
 
The athletes selected for the tour were:

  • Ewan Bennett (MLC Aquatic)
  • Luka Zubcic (Melbourne University Propulsion)
  • Elliot Rogerson (Nunawading)
  • Andrew Rice (Nunawading)
  • Jack Carr (Northcote)
  • Mikayla Smith (Nunawading)
  • Kayla Costa (Nunawading)
  • Kotuku Ngawati (Melbourne Vicentre)
  • Elyse Woods (Melbourne Vicentre)

Following the success of our first Webinar our next FREE Webinar ‘Future Proofing your Club - Planning for a Successful Future’ is now open for registration. Our 3-part webinar series will take participants through the planning process and will assist clubs with their own simple and effective plan for growth and success.
 
Part 1: 15 Aug 7:00-8:00pm (available on replay)
Part 2: 12 Sept 7:00-8:00pm
Part 3: 17 Oct 7:00-8:00pm

asctaVIC Professional Development Conference 

The 2019 asctaVIC Professional Development Conference is being held at MSAC on September 21 & 22 and registrations are closing soon! The conference will also offer attendees a networking dinner at Bayview Eden as well as a ladies networking event specifically for female attendees.

Victorian Age SC Championships 

If you are experiencing some difficulty entering the 2019 Victorian Age SC Championships via Swim Central please ensure that you enter all events that you can via Swim Central first.
For any events that you are unable to nominate for please submit a Manual Entry Form to events@vic.swimming.org.au by the closing date of entries Monday 19 August 2019 at 11:59pm.
