Business Directory and Networking Ideas

YMCC are working on developing a business directory for members who own a business or who work for businesses that could benefit from either developing business relationships or promoting their business among club members.

The team have developed a survey to gain information regarding ideas and interest in developing this networking group. The hope is to arrange a catch up over a few drinks and nibbles with those interested. The linked survey will allow you to select your preferred time of the event and share your business details.

This is not only for business owners and there is an option for anyone to fill it out. So please select any of the above links to compete the survey and we will be in touch with more information.

Match Review

Metro 2 Men

This week it was all about old friends and new friends for the Grass Crabs, as we faced off against archrivals – and close opponents on the premiership table – John XXIII. After an ill-advised attempt at humour on Whistler’s for Hire our ol’ mate Rosie (who recently defected to Hale) found himself actually having to umpire, but with Coco away at a sausage festival he remained relatively unscathed. With several other regular Crabs unavailable we needed some recruits, and we welcomed back Shano, who always provides a talking point or two, and Sasha for the game. It was also good to see Chicko return after a few weeks of fracking the Pilbara, although his skinfold tests were a bit below team standards which raised more than a few eyebrows. Luckily, the Websters had also found three new recruits for the day (from their extensive list of contacts), and their skinfolds were fine, so we let Chicko play anyway. And thank goodness we did, as his attack on the ball and fierce defence of the corner post on short corners (the corner post of the field, not the goals) were quite memorable. There were lots of other highlights: Sean watching a ball dribble between his legs and into the goals, Claz testing his kneecap strength against the opposition goalie’s helmet, and the umpire blowing time just as Burt was winding up for an open shot at goal.

As you might have gathered by now, we lost.

Look, we weren’t terrible, but they were better. To tell the truth, we owe a lot to Sean in goals, who had a cracking game, despite the aforementioned incident. The rest of the defence tried hard under a tonne of pressure all day, and Joshie took two hits for the team (although he milked it for all it was worth later, significantly reducing the level of sympathy felt by his team-mates). Burt hit our solitary goal, and to be fair it was a cracker. But it just wasn’t enough.

If we want to make it deep into finals, and savour the wineries in Spring, we are going to have to find a way around these guys.

Junior News

Match Report J7/8 A Girls

On Saturday the 3rd of August the 7/8A girls team played Whitford on their home grounds in Warwick. It was a grass game and when we saw the grass we knew it would be difficult as it was pretty bumpy. Before the game started our coach Suzie told us to win the one on ones, want the ball and to get in goal scoring positions.

At the end of the first half we were up 3-0. Ruby put some amazing balls across the goals but we didn’t quite manage to get them in. Georgia scored 2 goals against some really strong defence from Whitford and Jemma put a great goal in on a short corner.

Throughout the second half there were some amazing shots at goal but only Georgia’s awesome reverse flick made it in. Stella had a great shot but it hit the post. So we were up 4-0 and back on the centre line when Whitfords’ Centre Forward ran the field and scored a goal with only a minute left in the game.
In the end we were happy with our 4-1 win, everyone had played really well. Jemma won the tutu for best player of the day and Georgia took home the mongrel award this week.

J1/2 and J3/4 Disco

Awesome Junior Disco

An amazing disco last Friday for our junior juniors at the club rooms. We had some 80 kids dancing, flossing bopping and conga’ing and generally having a really great time. Thanks largely to our fantastic DJ and Entertainer Casey from Boptilyoudrop who was right in the mix and really engaged the kids and even had the parents out for a bit of YMCA and Macarina.

Thanks to Di and Lisa for managing the bar and to our very many parents helping with the set up, food management and clean up.

We would like to invite you to come to our Social night for the Grass Teams. The event will be held at Perry Lakes Clubrooms (Des and Pam Kelly Pavilion) on the 14th September 2019. The reason behind this event is celebrating the awesome club spirit we have amongst our 8 grass teams. The Bar will be open from 4pm. We invite you to bring food to share or even dinner?! The BBQs and ovens will be available to cook food. Feel free to drop off food off during the day (we have a new fridge for this, thank you Peter Judge and Town of Cambridge!) or bring it with you when you arrive!. We will provide the drinks through the bar and canteen. We look forward to see most of you there!
