July 2019
It's International Month at PS4L, and we are very proud to celebrate the success of our staff and beneficiaries here in Palestine and across the world.
First Palestinian coach in International Football Camp
At PS4L we are over the moon that our trainer Majdi Abdullah has been selected after PS4L nomination to take part in an international football camp in Germany, for the second year running!

Majdi will stay in Germany for a month, forming part of an international team to lead English and football camps for international participants. Here he will be able to hone his already well-developed coaching skills, but also to share his own experiences in delivering football and life skills sessions that he has gained whilst working with PS4L.

Part of the PS4L coaching team for the last three years, Majdi has undertaken training locally and overseas to enhance his skills, as well as completing a 6-month internship with the organisation.

When he returns to Palestine he will be able to reflect his experiences to fellow PS4L trainers, to the school where he teaches, to his local club and to the overall community, and continue to be an inspiration to those he works with and a driver of positive change.

Good luck Majdi!

Youth Empowerment & Protection Program
PS4L is incredibly proud to be part of the Youth Empowerment and Protection Project through Gender Interventions in Jerusalem, which was launched last week with the support of the Minister of Jerusalem Affairs, Mr. Fadi Hidmi.

Funded by the Belgian Government and with many partner institutions, NGOs, the Education Directorate of Jerusalem, the UNRWA and UNFPA Palestine, Sharek Youth Forum in partnership with PS4L, all in attendance, this forum aimed to discuss how to focus on gender equality when fighting for the rights of young people.

Targeting 16 schools in the Ministry of Jerusalem affairs, PS4L is committed to helping train teachers in Jerusalem on how to use sport for development with an emphasis on gender equality, and we are excited to conduct sports activities and interactive events as part of the project.  Watch this space for more details.
Summer Camps at Amari & Qaddoura Refugee Camps
Our latest group of international volunteers from the UK are now with us, and have been getting stuck into planning and delivering sports sessions and wellbeing workshops in some of the refugee camps in Ramallah.

In Al Amari Camp, the volunteers have been conducting sporting activities with children between 4 and 14 years old, focussing on play as a means for expression and inclusion, and were inspired by the passion and drive of the teachers and facilitators there. The children were captivated and energised by the presence of the volunteers, and overall the summer camp was highly enjoyable for all involved.

For Al Qaddoura camp the volunteers are planning sessions for women as well as for the young girls, with a focus on mindfulness as a tool for self-reflection alongside aerobics, yoga and meditation.
