Busy in the quiet...

Here's what you'll find in this issue...

It's quiet in Sofia. Really quiet. But not around us - God is on the move and we are, too!
All across Europe, August is the month that everyone takes their vacation. Not to be outdone by her neighbors, Sofia turns, for the most part, into a ghost town. Shops close. The metro and buses are almost empty. It is very peaceful. Many Bulgarians flock to the Black Sea coast or to nearby Greece to spend time with family and friends. Once September hits, they all come back. At the same time. In droves.

Okay, that might be slightly exaggerated, from the perspective of a high-functioning introvert who won't be caught dead trying to ride the metro for the first week or so after everyone gets back. But what it means for us is, we have just a few more weeks to get ready. September will mark the beginning of a lot of new things going on at theBigHouse, and a few other new things as well. Keep reading to find out more - we need and appreciate your prayers!

First, a quick peek at what we've been up to lately...

KEEPING UP WITH US

In all of our busyness, our newsletters don't come as often as we'd like, and as long as they are, we have to strike a balance between family and ministry news, so a lot remains unspoken. If you'd like to keep up with us and how you can pray for us on an ongoing basis, we've started a private Facebook group. Either reply to this email, or send us a message with FB Messenger and we'll add you to the group!
Chris was able to once again spend time in the U.S. to go to camp and visit his grandparents. When he came back in July, he brought Nat's mom and our ministry partner Mary (who is also now considered family) with him.

IT BEGINS!!

We've already started some things, and September will bring even more...
Our weekly International Bible Study and Discussion has kept going, and continues to grow and change. We average 8-10 people each week, but the faces change due to work, school and travel obligations. We have had people from: America, Bulgaria, Germany, Switzerland, Ukraine, Estonia, Australia, Cyprus, China, Nigeria, England, Holland, Italy and Texas (yes, according to them, it's a country). This week, they invited some of their friends to join us for the first-ever Game Night at theBigHouse!
For our first game night, we featured two new games: Exploding Kittens and Bears vs. Babies. If you haven't played them, we recommend that you do - better yet, come visit and we'll play them @theBigHouse!
Beginning in September, we will be adding several more regular weekly events at theBighouse! These will include English Clubs, NFL Football Game Nights, and more. We will also have periodic events, including more game nights. We are in the process of planning a city-wide scavenger hunt. This one requires some pretty serious logistical planning, and finding prizes. Our goal is to do this twice each year.

Prayer needs.

Please continue to pray for Natalie's continued healing. She has come so far (praise God!), but still has a long way to go.

Please pray for Natalie as she is spending more and more time getting back out on the streets to pray and minister to the people she cares for!

Chris will be starting seventh grade in a couple of weeks. Please pray that he will be diligent, and that he can have fun while learning. He will also be starting basketball again - please pray that through hard work he can eventually make it from the practice team to the playing team!

We are excited that we will have several guests coming to visit us in October - please pray that our time with each of them will be fruitful.

Our hope is to be in the States as a family over the Thanksgiving holiday. Please pray both that Natalie will be cleared to travel, and that financially we will be able to manage this.

Please pray for our continued financial support, both for our personal finances and for the BigHouse.
