Introducing Kohen Lee Moss!

Born at 4:03 pm on July 15, 2019 at Clínica Biblica, a nice hospital about 20 minutes from our language school. He weighed 7lb 6oz and was 20 inches long.

He has brown hair, which won Carrie a $25 gift card to Amazon, (courtesy of Kurtis' "fun money") based on our bet of his hair color.

We're incredibly grateful for this sweet new life and addition to our family.
Students and teachers from last trimester

After much prayer, we've decided to stay for the final trimester of language school in Costa Rica. Despite our eagerness to get back to Nicaragua, God has given us confidence in this decision in three major ways:
  • This will allow Kurtis to finish the program and reach a level of Spanish that will lead to stronger ministry in the long run
  • Evelyn is in a great program at our school where she is also learning a lot of Spanish language and culture
  • This will offer us a bit more consistency as a family and better medical care opportunities in the early months of Kohen's life

After the trimester ends in December, we plan to move back to Nicaragua. We'll then be "back home again in Indiana" for Christmas and the beginning of January.  We'd love to catch up with you!  Please let us know if you're interested in getting together and we'll gladly mark our calendars!
As an added bonus, here's "Back Home Again in Indiana" by Indiana's own, Straight No Chaser.
Some of Carrie's family visited for a week after Kohen was born. It was a great blessing to us, but we think Evie enjoyed it more than anyone!
Kurtis has been really encouraged by his ability to speak more naturally with native Spanish speakers, especially "his guys" from basketball!
We're grateful that Evie transitioned really well into the role of a loving big sister.

We celebrated our 7th anniversary not long before Kohen was born.

On Our Nightstand

I'm just about halfway through this book right now,  and boy is it taking me for a ride! I really appreciate Steinbeck's ability to describe characters and situations in intricate and detailed ways while maintaining a simplicity in his writing. It's worth a read if for no other reason than this, but I imagine I'll be able to suggest it for much more in a few weeks! -Kurtis
Some good friends gave this wonderful children's book to us when Evie was born. We recently started going through it each night at dinner. The book is written in the form of short simple truths about God with a question following each reading. Evie's answers are rarely right, but it's still a great joy to explore these topics together each day.
We're incredibly grateful for your support as we round out this vital time in language school. We know that with God anything is possible, and you help make our desire to grow and strengthen the Church in Latin America a reality through your generosity and encouragement.
