The Annual eBird Taxonomy Update is In Progress
Every year, eBird updates its species list to keep up with the latest changes in avian taxonomy, which evolves as we learn more about the world of birds. For example, sometimes we find one species should be split into two, or that two related species are actually one in the same.
As of Wednesday, August 7, eBird is undergoing the 2019 taxonomy update. Records will be changing over the next week.
How does this affect BirdsEye users?
Users who link their eBird account to the Birdseye app may see mismatches in their life lists between BirdsEye and eBird. This discrepancy is only temporary and the Birdseye team is working quickly to match the eBird updates.
