Many people are surprised when we tell them that a large proportion of our customers are male. We like to think men feel welcome, valued and comfortable when they shop at Washpool, as we've made a conscious effort to be inclusive when we design our ranges. And it's clear that men enjoy quality products that treat their skin gently, nourish and soothe just as much as women do.
While most of our products are truly unisex, our Traditional Shaving Soaps are purchased predominantly by/for our male clientele who love the close shave they achieve using an old school lather and a real razor. Having said that, we're aware that some women have purchased our brush, soap and bowls sets for themselves.
Our shaving soaps have a strong following on traditional shaving forums. For those who prefer a low packaging 'puck', we have an exciting addition to our shaving line coming soon... Watch this space!

Buying in a bare box of 10 means that you save on packaging of the individual soaps, and you save $5 on the cost versus if you purchased 10 soaps individually. The next soapmaking workshop will be held at our store on Sunday 8 September (our Saturday workshop is booked out).
We need a minimum of 6 bookings to run this workshop. This will be our last workshop for the year.
You'll learn how to make soap using tools that you probably already have in your kitchen.

Firstly, we're busy formulating and we have a question for you regarding sustainable Sandalwood. Australian Sandalwood has some impressive credentials when it comes to its' anti-inflammatory action, not to mention that sultry, woody scent so many of us love. We have an awesome Australian supplier and have been considering including Sandalwood in our new moisturiser formula.
Here's the question. Sandalwood is expensive - really expensive. While we would never consider using it in a wash-off product like soap we're thinking the hauntingly beautiful, lingering scent might be worth the stretch in a moisturiser. Would you prefer we stick with the more 'everyday' essential oils (still lovely) or would you be prepared to stretch a little to cover the Sandalwood?
The good news is that because we're the makers and we sell wholesale direct to our clients you would be buying exceptional quality at around half the price of other comparable products.
We'd love to know what you think.

On the farm, the drought continues. There's been no rain since the last update (if you're counting at home we've had less than 120mm this year so far - average to this time of the year is 470mm).
It's times like these that we really appreciate the support from our customers around Australia.
Melissa's husband, Warren, featured in an article on Yahoo News showing pictures our local postie has taken to show how devastating the effects the drought is having on our region.
There's a small chance that the cold snap that's on its way will bring snow! Temperatures are predicted to be 1°C - 12°C on Saturday, -4°C - 11°C on Sunday with severe wind chill. If there's snow it'll fall on late Saturday/early Sunday (or it might only make it to the Guyra region like last time). Either way, we'll be open with our log fire burning!

When we purchase ingredients from further afield we place great emphasis on using ethical, organic, fair trade and sustainably produced raw ingredients. Our packaging is biodegradable, recycled and recyclable where possible.
Our products include cold pressed edible oils,butters and milks, extracts, infusions, activated and whole botanicals along with clays, honey, fruit and vegetables. Basically, ingredients you can recognise, most of which are edible.
