Assalamu alaykum,

We have 6 updates to share with you today:

(1) Eid ul-Adha will be on Sunday, August 11. We will be having two Eid prayers followed by a special celebration for the whole family.

(2) Our Annual Eid Gala for ladies is back. Tickets sell out quickly so get yours now! 

(3) Our next Helping Hands - Feeding the Homeless activity is happening today. Earn reward on the day of Arafah by helping to prepare, package, and deliver meals to shelters downtown.

(4) The next Blood Donor's Clinic will be on Wednesday, August 14. We encourage you to donate to help those in need.

(5 - 6) We are sponsoring a camp for youth 18+ called Camp1Nation for brothers and Camp Infinity for sisters. Registration is open for those interested.

#1. Are You Ready for Eid ul-Adha?

AMA is honoured to invite you to a wonderful day of family fun this coming Sunday, August 11, 2019.

Get ready for our Eid celebration because it’s sure to be a lot of fun!


Prayer Details


We have a jam-packed program made for you. It will begin with the Eid prayers in the morning at Masjid ar-Rahmah (1216 Hunt Club Rd).

  1. The first prayer will be at 8:00 AM
  2. The second prayer will be at 10:00 AM

Important: we strongly urge those who live near the masjid to walk instead of bringing their cars. As for those who will be driving, please carpool so we can maximize the space in the parking lot for as many people as possible. For latecomers we recommend you bring a carpet with you.


Celebration Details


We will have a variety of fun games and activities for the whole family. The celebration will start after Dhuhr at 1:30 PM and will continue until 7:00 PM with all of the following attractions.

For only $10 a bracelet your child will get to enjoy all of the following activities:

  • Ride on a train with their family with up to 20 passengers
  • Race against each other to climb up a 22 ft. wall and slide all the way down!
  • Show their shooting skills with an indoor basketball game
  • Get their face painted with a professional face painter
  • Have henna designs made on their hands
  • Be the last person standing in a game of joust
  • Receive a loot bag with stuff inside
  • Have a blast jumping around in Candy Land inflatable game. Kids can bounce, climb, slide, crawl and navigate through obstacles and tunnels

There will also be food vendors selling an assortment of meals. The vendors will be selling ice cream, knafeh, sharwarma, pizza, felafel, and more!

We look forward to seeing you and your family at our wonderful celebration on Sunday!

#2. Our Annual Eid Gala for Ladies is Back

You’re invited to the Eid Gala!

The Eid Gala will be a night of fun and celebration. It’s an exclusive event for sisters only. 

Sorry guys, this party ain’t for you. However, we encourage the brothers to buy tickets for their mothers, wives, daughters, sisters, aunts, and nieces! They will love you for it.


We hope to see you at a fun packed night that will include a fashion show,

…henna,

…entertainment,

…photo booth,

…catered buffet,

…and games with hundreds of dollars worth of prizes!!!

Dress code is modest cultural. It is a Hijabi friendly party so come looking your best. It will be a fun ladies night for you and your loved ones.

Date: Saturday, August 17th from 5:30 – 10:00 PM

Place: Community hall of Masjid ar-Rahmah (1216 Hunt Club Rd)

Dress code: Modest, cultural dress is encouraged

Age: 13 years and older

Cost: Each ticket for this amazing event costs only $20 (tickets are limited and they sell out quickly) – No sales at the door on the day of the event!

#3. Helping Hands - Feed the Homeless Will Be Today

We are having the next Helping Hands – Feeding the Homeless event this Saturday (August 10) in the community hall at Masjid ar-Rahmah (AMA).

Please let us know if you can help out with any of the following:

(1) Preparing food such as salad, chicken and rice, dessert, etc.

Please drop off the food in the community hall at 2 PM on Saturday, August 10.

(2) Packaging the food into take-out boxes – we will meet at 2:00 PM in the community hall.

(3) Drive the food donations to a shelter – around 3:30 – 4:00 PM on Saturday.

Please confirm by contacting helpinghands@mymasjid.ca so we can plan for the number of volunteers and food.

If you have any questions or comments to improve this program, they are always welcomed! We will see you on Saturday insha Allah.

#4. Our Next Blood Donor's Clinic Will Be on Wednesday

This is a great opportunity to donate your blood and help those in need.

This clinic is being organized and operated by the Canadian Blood Services and they will be at our masjid to receive blood donations.

We encourage you to come and donate your blood. Your support will help those in need, and you may even save a life with your generous donation.

Allah says in the Qur’an: “And whoever saves one – it is as if he had saved all of mankind” (Chapter 5, Verse 32).

Here are the details:

Date: Wednesday, August 14

Time: From 12:30 noon until 3:30 PM and 5:00 until 7:00 PM

Location: Community hall of Masjid ar-Rahmah (1216 Hunt Club Rd).

#5. Summer Camp for Boys 18+ 

AMA is sponsoring the Camp1Nation program along with our partners KMA, OMA, SNMC and Jami Omar.

This camp is being organized by MYLT, UOMSA, and CUMSA.

This program will be a full-fledged camping experience that includes engaging activities both on land and sea, spiritually uplifting Islamic reminders, spooky hiking adventures, skills training workshops, memorable campfires and much more!

Here are the details: 

Duration: Friday, August 16th  - Sunday, August 18th

Departure/Return location: University of Ottawa 

Camp Location: Camp Smitty (East Campground)

Age: Male youth from 18 to 25 (for sisters of the same age group you can learn about another camp by reading further below)

Cost: $145 per camper

#6. Camp Infinity - Camping Experience for Sisters Only

In addition to Camp1Nation for boys there is also an exclusive camp for girls called Camp Infinity.

It will be an all-inclusive camping experience that promises thrilling activities, private swimming, spiritually uplifting Islamic reminders, skills training workshops, memorable campfires and much more!

Here are the details: 

Duration: Friday, August 16th  - Sunday, August 18th

Departure/Return location: University of Ottawa 

Camp Location: Camp Smitty (West Campground)

Age: Female youth from 18 to 25 

Cost: $145 per camper
