waiting for inspiration...

After a long day of working separately, the three of us found a moment to sit on the porch together in the evening twilight.

Between the words, we heard the sounds of our backyard in summer (birds, a solo crow, intermittent traffic, a distant train)… Yoshi’s ears were up and his nose was quivering as he conducted an invisible analysis of the air.

And then a bee flew by and Yoshi’s head snapped up to follow the flight pattern. Before we could blink, he was up chasing and snapping at the bee. There was no reasoning with him on his belief system around this fat bumble… and just when we thought the chase was over, Yoshi slyly spotted him on the purple clematis.

It took a simple throw of a ball to change his focus.

I admire Yoshi’s ability to only be in the present moment. In exchange for not having opposable thumbs, he never has to worry about paying bills, or cleaning the house, or working enough hours to pay his vet and food bills. And, I assume he never wonders what his life mission is.

He simply… is… with his entire being. Never at a loss for inspiration, he looks around his immediate surroundings, and chooses the next moment of living. What lights him up is the next thing he attends to.

There is something to this. Everything we need to be inspired may be right there in our own backyard…

always in motion,
fia

thoughts for the week...

Well, after the mad rush that came with the 2020 calendar release, we're finally back to a more manageable pace around here. A pace where we look up & allow ourselves to be amazed by the world around us again. Here's what Fia has to say about that practice in her essay this week: be amazed...
