Firstly, I had a very productive meeting with Dr. Klaus Nitschke, Director of Berlin Health Innovations, an organisation that faciliates turning research from the Berlin Institute of Health and Charité into concrete innovations that can reach the market. It was very interesting to see our aligned mission and processes as well as share experiences.
We also discussed how we can provide better matching of start-ups with expertise from clinicians and we have some ideas we can collaborate on in this space.

In Brussels this week, I had the pleasure together with my colleagues Ursula Mühle and Sameena Conning, to meet with Usman Khan, the new Executive Director of the European Patients Forum and his colleague Kaisa Immonen.
Usman is now 100 days into his new role and it was a great opportunity to discuss the collaborations we have forthcoming, and to see what mechanisms we can build to have better access to patient groups for our projects.

Finally, I've often spoken in this newsletter about the progress of our crowdfunding platform that we are building with our partner, aescuvest.
Good news today - we are ready to push the button and launch our first campaign. It will be for Surge-on Medical, which has developed a patented and highly innovative platform technology for minimally invasive surgical instruments.
The crowdfunding platform and this first campaign will launch with an event in Berlin on 27 August bringing together decision-makers from politics, the healthcare industry, investors and media representatives, and we'd like to invite you to attend.
You can hear more in the video and register for the event here.
