We have a Row by Row winner!

Hey there quilters!

Did you know that as part of the Row by Row challenge, there are winners involved? For anyone who collects 8 rows, makes and FINISHES a quilt, then turns it in to one of the shops involved, they get a PRIZE!

Glenda Sears from Browns Flat came to visit our shop and claim the prize of 25 fat quarters. She also got a bonus prize (Aurifil case and thread) for including the block from our shop.

I was also amazed that she HAND QUILTED this beauty. Her sweet husband asked if there was any prize for him, so I offered a peck on the cheek which he accepted with enthusiasm.

Shops included:
Covered Bridge, Riverview
Spruce it Up Quilt Shop, Port Elgin
Ridge Machine Quilting (That's us!), Keswick Ridge
The Fabric Cupboard, Moncton
Quilts by the Bay, Brighton (Digby) NS
Sew Jo's, Ottawa ON
Crafter's Vineyard, Sussex

Sorry I missed the newsletter last week. Those low pressure systems rolling in set off my sinuses and it was a few days of headaches and naps. This week I did the newsletter early and scheduled it. (Why don't I do this every week?)

And the quilt queue is at THREE, hopefully to be two by the end of the weekend. Unless someone drops off a quilt on Friday. I never did get caught up enough to have shorter turnaround times and work on my own tops... someday tho!

From the web:

I read a lot of blogs and posts from quilters all over the world. Here's a few things that caught my eye this week. Hope you enjoy!
  • It's not over till it's really over - six quick summer projects you still have time to make.
  • Denyse Schmidt talks about her mother's sewing.
  • In my family we joke that sewing and things skipped a generation. I was taught sewing and quilting and a lot of other crafty things from both my grandmothers. My mom was part of the working mom generation and got into all those things in the late eighties and early nineties. Now she sends me links she finds so I can put them in this newsletter. I'm thinking of giving her a small corner for her recent finds. This one about the artistry of Sheena Norquay and the Peacock collection she made for Aurifil made me think of the year Mom and I got into bargello embroidery. We planned gorgeous bargello napkin rings in various shades of blue DMC floss. I think we finished one and a half.
  • He's captain of the Montgomery High School's cross country team, a gifted piano player, and an aspiring biochemistry major. Cory, 17, is also a quilter making 100 quilts for charity. Of course his mom and grandma are quilters.

That's all till next week!
