City Manager Search Update

The City of Lexington is working with the Berkley Group to find Lexington's next City Manager. Following a community forum on July 11, 2019, a City Council work session with representatives from the Berkley Group was held on July 18, 2019. City Council members were provided with the citizen comments from the forum and provided their input in order to create a recruitment profile (minutes from that work session can be found here). On August 7, 2019 the recruitment profile was released after being reviewed by City Council. Stay tuned for updates as we move through this process!

Our students return to school Monday, August 12th – please keep the following safety tips in mind when traveling around the City:
  • Watch out for school crossing guards and obey their signals.
  • Obey school zone speed limits and stop at crosswalks.
  • Do not drive distracted and be aware of your surroundings.
  • Make eye contact with children crossing the street.
  • Never pass a bus loading and unloading children.
  • Choose the safest route between home and school and practice it with children until they can demonstrate traffic safety awareness.
  • Teach your children to never get into a vehicle with anyone, even if they know them, without your permission.
  • When walking to school, stay on the sidewalk if one is available, if no sidewalk is available, walk facing traffic.
  • Before you cross the street, stop and look both ways to see if cars are coming, if there is a car, wait for it to stop and make eye contact with the driver before crossing.
  • Always cross at a crosswalk or intersection and stay alert.
The 43rd Annual Rockbridge Community Festival will be held in Downtown Lexington on Saturday, August 24, 2019 from 9:00am to 3:00pm!
