The old has gone, the new is here!"

Back to School
Thank you for attending our back to school night!  Mrs. Meece announced to the parents that our school theme this year is "We are the Hands of God".  She talked about all we can do with our hands, such as a pat on the back or a high five.  Most importantly we can always use our hands to lift someone up in prayer.  Father Marshall also encouraged our parents to always pray with our children.
Morning Drop Off
Please remember that everyone should enter from Prague Road for morning drop off.  Now that students have been in school for a week, they should no longer need walked into the building.  If you are having issues, or your child needs a bit more help, feel free to go through the drop off line and pull up to the circle to help them.  If you are here before 7:30am, your child should enter through the front office doors for morning care ($1 per day), or wait in the East Lot.  A drop off line should not form at Door 2 until 7:30am.

Robotics Club
After the inaugural year of robotics, we are adding new team members to our four RoboRaiders teams.  We have 16 positions available for 6th through 8th grade students to apply.  We ask that students get an application for this team from Mrs. Jordan.  These will be available between the dates of August 12th through the 16th.  The DEADLINE to return the applications is August 21st.   We plan on interviewing students who returned the applications during the week of August 26th through the 29th.  These will be 10 minute interviews with the prospective students.  Students will then be informed September 3rd if they will be a member of the team.  Practices will then start promptly on September 9th, 10th and 11th. Any questions, please contact, Mrs. Flynn, Mrs, Jordan or Mrs. Kocher.
If your student is in the 6th, 7th or 8th grade and are interested in creating a robot to compete, PLEASE ENCOURAGE them to fill out the application.  We are trying to create the new engineers of the future!!!

Stewardship
Volunteerism is the life-blood of this great parish. As Christ as our head, and our parishioners as the body, together we make such a difference in the world around us!.
 This year we are asking:
Who wants to try something new?

St. Jude is very fortunate to have many volunteers in our
parish keeping our church, school, and grounds running well. Some of our ministries could use some more help this year.
Are you wanting to try something new? God gives us many talents. Use them right here at St. Jude.

Go on-line to fill out the 2019 Stewardship form in the month of August or pick up a paper form at the Welcome Booth.

Junior High Youth Ministry
EDGE
The EDGE program, which is Jr high youth ministry for 7th and 8th graders, will meet on Sunday nights from 6-7:30 in the youth center on the 3rd and 4th Sundays.  The 3rd Sunday is an EDGE Catechetical session which includes a fun game, a faith topic and small group sharing.  The 4th Sunday will be an EDGE social which involves high energy games and snacks.  The first EDGE session will be held on September 15th

Confirmation
The sacrament of Confirmation is transitioning to the to the 8th grade year starting this fall and will take place within the EDGE program.  As already mentioned the 3rd Sunday of the month in EDGE will be a catechetical session which is where the 8th graders will receive their confirmation instruction. While 8th graders are encouraged to attend both EDGE sessions, the 3rd Sunday of the month will be required for those preparing for the sacrament.    There will be a short parent and Candidate orientation offered after the 5pm, 9:30 and 11:30 Masses the weekend of September 7th and 8th.
As we transition to confirmation in 8th grade, we will continue to offer a high school confirmation program for sophomores for the next two years.  This means that if a current 8th grader chooses not to be confirmed this year, there will not be a high school program in place by the time they reach their sophomore year.
What's Happening...

Service Shirts
We at St. Jude have very high expectations for our 8th graders each year. As leaders of the school, we hope they will provide our younger students with a great example to follow.  The 8th graders are also challenged to obtain ten hours of service throughout the year. Most of them earned their service hours over the summer and received their shirts this past Thursday. They will wear them proudly each Friday with their uniform pants. Father Marshall gathered our 8th graders to thank them for their service to our community. His prayer encouraged them all to continue the trend of helping others. With their compassionate hearts and giving natures, we know they will do just that.
