Summer Camp 2019

We are a bit more than half way through the summer and what a fun summer it has been. So far this year campers visited the Museum of Natural History, took in a show at the Marionette Theatre, spent an afternoon at the New York City Fire Museum, participated in a program at the Children's Library, spent time at the Central Park Zoo, National Museum of American Indian, and participated in weekly Karate classes. And just last week our campers attended the 3rd Annual Back to School Event with Councilmember Rafael Salamanca (pictured above).
The Banana Kelly's Summer Camp continues to be a popular program for area children and their families and we hope that you will consider supporting the Camp as well as our growing-in-demand After School program. Combined, these two programs comprise our Youth Educational Program (YEP). Our camp and After School program are vital compliments to the work we do assisting South Bronx families gain access to affordable housing and provision of targeted social services.
Your support enables us to continue to offer our South Bronx young people a means to spend their summer and after school time in a fun and learning environment. If you would like, you may target your tax deductible YEP donation directly to the Barry S. Milberg Summer Camp Scholarship fund. This fund was created two years ago in memory of Barry Milberg to provide scholarships to cover the cost of the Summer Camp for area families who do not have the financial ability to send their child/children to camp. Barry was a longtime friend of Banana Kelly, who worked tirelessly to ensure that our camp not only continued but thrived. Our goal is to raise $60,000 to cover the cost of our 2019 Summer Camp and to assist in our growing After School program. As of the end of July we have raised close to $43,000!!!
