County-wide CodeRED Emergency Alert Test: OES has scheduled a County-wide CodeRED Emergency Alert test for August 15th at 10:00 a.m.
A test CodeRED Alert will be sent to every Nevada County resident who has subscribed to our CodeRED system. To make this test as useful as possible, we want to get every resident signed up for CodeRED so everyone can test this important system. Help spread the word to your friends and neighbors.

 It’s important that every member in your family has their cell phone registered with Code Red. It’s one of the few ways you can be notified directly of an emergency. It’s also a good idea to have a family member or friend out of the area registered on our Code Red. Often cell lines locally go down, but that person would still be able to get information. It’s also important because family members may be separated, some at work or some at home, and may not be able to connect with one another. Then family members can call into the third party to check with everyone if anyone cannot be reached directly.
When you go to the county site you will find a lot of information for preparation for any disaster.
